VET/SANCTUARY MANAGER


LIBASSA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY


LIBASSA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY IS LOOKING FOR A VET/SANCTUARY MANAGER!
LiWiSa the first and only wildlife rescue center in Liberia for different species of animals that are victims of the illegal bushmeat and pet trade.
Since the start in 2017, 545 animals have entered: pangolins, antelopes, monkeys, reptiles, birds (of prey) and small carnivores such as genets, civets and mongoose. So far, 275 animals have already been released back into the wild!
We are looking for a vet to join our team starting in September.
• You will be the only vet on site, as we can only accommodate one at a time. You will be in charge of treating a great variety of species that are sick or injured, or doing necropsy if necessary.
• When no medical treatment is needed, you will help out with the daily care of the 120 animals at the sanctuary. This includes: bottle feeding the many babies at the nursery, preparing food, cleaning of enclosures, or walking pangolins in the forest.
• You will be in charge of monitoring the welfare of the animals in our care.
• You will work closely with the sanctuary director and supervise the staff.

We are looking for:
• a licensed vet; (experience is preferred but not required)
• a leader/team player;
• someone capable of living in a remote area;
• someone capable of working long hours/night shifts;
• someone who has worked in a developing country before (preferably);
• someone who is eager to learn;
• someone who is capable of working in a challenging environment;
• someone who is committed to stay for one year (with 3 month probation).
You will receive a monthly stipend, free food and accommodation at Libassa Ecolodge.
