Reporting to: Displays Manager
Hours: Up to 37.5 hours
Work pattern: 5 days per week including weekends, evenings and bank holidays
Duration: Permanent

Description:
The successful candidate will work under the leadership of our Displays Manager, providing the best possible care and management for our diverse collection of animals.

The main responsibility for this role will be working within our displays department but will also be required to carry out marine mammal duties and the presentation of shows and talks.

Flexibility is key to the successful operation of the animal department as a whole and Animal Keepers may also be required to provide cover across a range of departments.

It's important that all visitors have an enjoyable day out and guest experience is paramount to our mission. You will be responsible for conversing with visitors whilst carrying out your daily duties around the aquarium. It is essential therefore that you are
just as confident working behind the scenes as well as Front of House.

Ideally, you will have completed the DMZAA qualification (or equivalent) or relevant degree along with, proven experience. The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills have an understanding and interest in modern zoo animal management, including animal enrichment and animal training using operant conditioning methods.
We do have sites at 2 other locations in the UK, so travel may be required to these sites. Therefore, a full, valid driving license is desirable to the role.
