CURATOR MAMMALS

DREAM ZOO. DREAM JOB. DREAM CITY
CURATOR MAMMALS, AUCKLAND ZOO

In addition to being a global city with stunning scenery, wonderful beaches and sub-tropical islands, Auckland is a city with one of the most progressive zoos in the world. Here, conservation sits at the very heart of what we do.  We are passionate about managing the Zoo's resources so that they benefit wildlife conservation, and provide the kind of visitor experience that inspires and empowers people to take positive action for wildlife and the environment.
We have recently embarked on an ambitious $120 million capital expenditure upgrade programme, which will see the transformation of much of the zoo site and the development of many new animal exhibits. Right now we are looking for someone who is equally passionate, equally forward in their thinking, and who can play a major part in the planning and execution of this project.
This role is about leadership, as you'll be motivating and leading a team of people to ensure that we are able to provide the most innovative and imaginative exhibits as well as ensuring the highest possible standards of welfare for the  mammals in our care. When you're not helping staff reach their potential, you'll be learning to love the unique challenge of mammal collection development and management in New Zealand.
From you we need:
·         Eight years plus experience in a zoo or aquarium, coupled with extensive and proven staff leadership experience
·         Proven experience in species management, animal collection planning, and wildlife conservation
·         Proven experience in project management
·         A tertiary qualification or post graduate qualification in Biology or Conservation Science
This is simply a unique career opportunity in a unique environment.  For the right creative and committed individual, this will be  your dream job.
Apply here today or for further information please contact Cherie (Talent Sourcing Specialist) oncherie.nisbet@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz or 021 820 394
Relocation costs will be offered to the successful applicant.
Applications close Thursday 12th May 2016 at 10.30pm (NZ time).
