Drayton Manor Zoo is
a fascinating place to work with 15 acres of open plan zoo home to over 100
animals from all over the world including endangered species.
About the role:
Drayton Manor has an
exciting opportunity work in our Bird section. The successful candidate will be
expected to ensure high standards of animal welfare, following evidence led
husbandry practices, carrying out daily checks and keeping records for the animals
within the bird section. As part of your role you will assist with the
preparation of approved diets and follow correct feeding procedures. Within your daily duties you will also clean
and maintain the enclosures and report any defects or repairs required to
ensure the safety and wellbeing of our Bird collection.
Who are we looking
for?
We are looking for
applicants that have had experience working with a variety of animals and
experience working within a Zoo environment is essential. You will need sound
taxonomic knowledge of birds. It is essential to have a minimum of a Level 3
Extended diploma in Animal Management and/or a
DMZAA qualification. You will need to have good communication skills and
be able to talk to the public and have attention to detail.

Salary: Between
£15,600 - £16,792 dependent on experience
Hours: You will be
on an annualised contract or 2119 hours per annum, on a rota’d basis including
weekends and bank holidays
