Blackpool Zoo is one
of the UK’s most established medium sized zoos, and in recent years the zoo has
gone through a rapid modernisation and development process.
An opportunity has
arisen for an Education and Research Officer to join our education team as the
department expands into the next exciting phase of Blackpool Zoo’s development.
The individual
should be passionate about research and conservation and driven to develop
Blackpool Zoo’s research department. Promoting & growing Blackpool Zoo’s
profile and reputation in the field of research and conservation.
Duties of the role
include being responsible for the departments research programme alongside
supervising a team of Student Research Assistants. The role also involves the
development and delivery of the public talk’s programmes, presenting lessons to
schools, hosting practical learning programmes, keeper courses, and animal
experiences.
We are looking for a
proactive individual with proven people skills gained from previous research
experience. Flexibility and an innovative approach are essential due to the
multi-faceted nature of the department.
The successful
candidate should be educated to degree level. They should also have previous
experience of animal research. They will need to demonstrate excellent time
management and planning skills, possess a high level of verbal and written
communication skills and it is essential that they are experienced in the use
of all key Microsoft packages.
