zoOceanarium Group specializes in developing and operating world class aquariums, zoos and nature-based science centers.  We provide services from concept design to managing daily operations and everything in between.  With employees from all over the globe, zoOceanarium Group consists of animal care specialists, animal trainers, veterinarians, design specialists, project managers and operational staff.

zoOceanarium Group is continuing to expand their team and looking to recruit a talented Maintenance Director for an exciting zoo project in Ethiopia. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day maintenance of the facilities within the zoo. Your responsibilities will include preventive maintenance systems, emergency repairs, renovation projects and safety aspects.


Duties:
•        Maintains the facility infrastructure throughout the zoo - visitor, staff and animal areas based on industry standards and regulations.
•        Provides assistance and expertise in areas of building systems, infrastructure, capital project coordination and preventive maintenance programs.
•        Manages the maintenance team
•        Performs annual performance evaluation responsibilities for team members.
•        Coordinate the maintenance and operation of all technical systems.
•        Administers and provides tracking, reporting, progress and oversight functions for the zoo's maintenance work order system.
•        Purchase and maintain inventory of supplies and replacement equipment to ensure continued operations.
•        Maintains and supervises the care, use, repair and replacement of all tools, vehicles, maintenance supplies and in-house construction materials.
•        Develops appropriate guidelines to carry out policies and explains the purpose behind policies and programs.
•        Develops and implements quality standards; evaluates processes and procedures to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness of sustainable operations.
•        Plans the facilities maintenance budget based on resource availability, requirements, future objectives and monitors expenditures to stay within established budgetary constraints.
•        Ensure that the maintenance department and all its activities at the zoo are in full compliance with Health & Safety regulations, zoo licensing, animal welfare, animal and plant management, conservation, environmental protection and staff compliance.
•        Manage emergency situations to minimize damage, loss or injury to guests, team members, animals or company property.
•        Assist in the preparation of periodic reports for all maintenance department activities.

Position Requirements:
•        7 year + in a similar management role required.
•        Health & Safety recognized qualification.
•        Competency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
•        Experience managing large multicultural teams.
•        Exceptional leadership skills.
•        Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•        Experience managing departmental budgets.
•        Creative problem solver.
