Assistant Curator (LVI) – Paignton Zoo

Salary:  £30,245.15

Full-time:  38.75 hours

Permanent

Paignton Zoo, one of the largest in the UK and a registered scientific and education charity, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced zoo professional to join our LVI team. You will be responsible for supporting the development of this collection to maximize its contribution to our goals of conservation, education and research. This includes leading a team of keepers in all aspects of daily husbandry.  Paignton Zoo is a leading member of both BIAZA and EAZA and prides itself on the use of evidence-based practice so input into breeding programme management and research programmes will be expected. 

The successful candidate will have significant experience working in a zoo environment at a senior level.  You will have substantial knowledge of LVI husbandry and a proven track record of leading teams, including in all aspects of Health and Safety (risk assessments, safe systems of work, safety culture).  Experience in conservation advocacy, research and relevant TAGs or TWGs is also extremely desirable.  Firearms team experience would be an advantage but is not essential.
