Job Description
  •  Run elephant activities with the guests. Including greeting guests at hotel, accompanying guests to Elephant Camp, running guest program and returning guests to hotel.
  • Work with mahouts and Anantara Elephant Camp team to organise training and development for Elephants.

  • Keep abreast of elephant news and scientific developments, impart this knowledge to guests and use this knowledge to continuously suggest developments to guest activities.

  • Coordinate between the hotel and Elephant Camp for all Elephant Camp activities.

  • Ensure all mahouts know daily guest activities.

  • Be first point of contact for all elephant activities.

  • To assist training of the elephants in Positive Reinforcement Target Training (Training in this method will be provided).

  • To participate and assist in elephant research projects conducted by the organisation and visiting scientists.

  • Effectively communicate the model of the camp and the aims to guests, media and inspection groups.

  • Ensuring at all times, guests are given a 5-Star experience.

  • Organising elephants for special events or special requests.

  • Attend Hotel’s daily Morning Briefings when manager(s) not on duty.

  • Hosting guest visits and or outside organisations to the Elephant Camp.

  • Support Elephant camp team in all aspects of the running of the elephant camp, including back of house/admin duties, working with outside visitors, assisting with maintenance of the camp, coordination of mahouts for other tasks outside of normal mahout duties.

  • Ensuring guest, elephant and mahout safety at all times.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Conservation Biology, Tourism or related field.

  • Some experience with elephants and traditional communities is preferred.

  • Strong English language ability, able to communicate in spoken and written English.  Chinese or other language ability is a bonus.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities.

  • Flexible and able to accommodate visitor requests and last-minute changes, Able to adapt visitor experience to individual visitor expectations and requirements.

  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and self-manage.

  • Ability to work in a field environment.

  • A Tour Guide License or training will be a bonus.
