Animal Attendant x 3

Heathrow Animal Reception Centre

The main remit of the Heathrow Animal Reception Centre is to enforce U.K. and E.U. Legislation with regards to animal health and welfare. However, HARC also provides care and accommodation to the huge variety and quantity of animals that pass-through Heathrow airport each year.

The role of an Animal Attendant is caring for the animals and checking their compliance with animal health and welfare regulations. Daily duties include kennel and cattery husbandry, reptile husbandry, record keeping and updating customers on their animal’s progress. You should have a qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent experience and be able to demonstrate experience working with domestic pets and one other group of captive animals.

Due to operational changes at the Animal Reception Centre we are anticipating an increase in documentary checks under The Non-Commercial Movement of Pet Animals Order 2011 and EC regulations 576/2013 and 577/2013.Therefore additional staffing is required to assist with this. It is vital that you are able to understand this legislation and check import paperwork accompanying animals.

We are looking for a dynamic individual with high attention to detail, who is able to demonstrate exceptional levels of customer service and interpersonal skills, in order to engage with key stakeholders in person, by email and over the telephone.
