Drayton Manor Zoo is a fascinating place to work - with 15 acres of open plan zoo playing home to animals from all over the world including many endangered species. We are committed to supporting global conservation efforts and achieving the highest possible standards of welfare and husbandry of zoo animals.

 

About the role:

 

We have an exciting opportunity to join our keeper team as a general Zookeeper supporting the team in all areas of the zoo.

 

The successful candidate will be expected to ensure high standards of animal welfare, following evidence led husbandry practices, carrying out daily checks and keeping records for the animals within their sections.

 

As part of your role you will assist with the preparation of approved diets and follow correct feeding procedures.  Within your daily duties you will also clean and maintain the enclosures and report any defects or repairs required to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our collection.

 

Who are we looking for?

 

You will be able to work well as part of a team, have the ability to use your initiative, display an interest in and commitment to animal welfare and conservation, and must possess strong communication skills.

 

We are looking for applicants that have had experience working with a variety of animals and experience working within a Zoo environment is essential.

 

You will need to have good communication skills and be able to talk to the public and display great passion for your animals and conservation.
