CURATOR – UNGULATES (100%, M/F/D)

 

The Zoo Zurich is recruiting for an Ungulate Curator to manage our new state of the art African Savanna section. This full-time position provides an unique opportunity to work with African and domestic ungulates but also to work with several other taxa. You will be leading and supervising 10 employees and will be co-working as an animal caretaker for at least 20%. You will be responsible for the husbandry and presentation of the section’s animals. You will have a supportive role for the scientific and communication department. Teaching zookeepers and students and representing Zoo Zurich in the international zoo community (EEP/TAG etc.) will be important tasks as well.

 

What you bring:

- A degree as approved zookeeper or university degree in zoology, biology or a related field

- Experience with exotic ungulates including environmental enrichment and animal training

- Strong communication skills and leadership experience

- Economic understanding and a customer-driven mindset

- High resilience, very good communication and team skills

- Engaging and pragmatical personality

- Good knowledge of the German language or willingness to learn German

 

Advantageous skills:

- Knowledge in all relevant legal regulations

- Good computer skills in MS-Office/ZIMS

- Good knowledge of plant care

- Project management skills
