£80,000, negotiable

Bristol, Clifton and West of England Zoological Society is a registered charity whose principal activity is the operation of Bristol Zoo Gardens, one of the oldest zoos in Europe, opened to the public in 1836 and attracting over 600,000 visitors each year. The Zoo has a long established reputation within the wildlife and zoo community for being at the forefront of conservation, animal welfare and environmental issues. The Society is also involved through its Foundation in extensive conservation and research programmes around the world, and has planning consent for the creation of a major wildlife park on the outskirts of Bristol.

THE POSITION
Provide strong leadership and direction in relation to all aspects of the Society’s activities both in the UK and abroad
To manage the Society’s strategic goals and operational plans and ensure they are continually the central drivers of the Zoo
Raise the Charity’s profile and influence while ensuring financial stability and growth is achieved

THE CANDIDATE
Leading senior/Board level experience in a people-focused medium to large visitor attraction
Visionary strategist with the ability to lead and motivate all levels of staff
Proactive, charismatic leadership style with a core understanding and respect for the Society’s core values, beliefs and specific charitable ethics
