About Wildwood Trust
Wildwood Trust is a
charity which for the last 14 years has promoted rewilding and a collection
plan focused on native, and formally native British Wildlife. Establishing a
unique mix of animal collection, wildlife education, conservation and
ecological services. The animal collection is central to our charitable and
business objectives, and also supportive of our ambitious objectives to enthuse
and educate people and to support conservation and rewilding efforts across the
UK. Wildwood (Canterbury) has recently been joined by Wildwood (Escot) thus,
management of the animal collection and keeper team spans over the two parks.
The post is based at Wildwood Park Herne Common Herne Bay Kent
The Post
The post of head of
Living Collections at Wildwood Trust encompasses animal management, legislation
and record keeping, design and management of enclosures and leadership of the
keeper teams.
This post is for a
highly motivated person, with extensive management experience within a
zoological / wildlife park setting. The individual will be proactive and
forward thinking with a good understanding of collection operations. The post
holder will have excellent leadership and management qualities to enthuse and
develop our team of dedicated keepers.
The post holder must demonstrate the qualities needed to ensure all the
Trust’s objectives are met: and assist in achieving all commercial,
communications, conservation and operational objectives. The role requires
knowledge of enclosure design and maintenance with responsibility for ensuring
we can display animals in natural woodland settings balancing efficient
operations, visitor needs and animal welfare.
This is a full time
post, 37.5 hours per week.
