Job description
The Mull Aquarium is part of Tobermory Harbour Association, a not-for-profit community enterprise company, limited by guarantee, with a remit to manage Tobermory Bay on behalf of the community.

The principal responsibilities of the post holder are to provide support to the Mull Aquarium Manager. This will include assisting with the till/shop, Touch pool sessions, animal husbandry and tank maintenance, welcoming visitors and helping them with information about the aquarium and the harbour facilities. You will also be involved in assisting the Manager with the events programme.

Whilst there is no need to have any scientific qualifications, an interest in marine life would be beneficial. There will also be a requirement to contribute to the promotion and advertising of the aquarium whether through events or social media. You would also have a wider involvement in the Harbour facilities and opportunities may arise to be included in some aspects of Harbour operations.

You will be actively engaged in customer care and will be expected to interact with the public in a courteous and helpful manner.

You will report directly to the Mull Aquarium Manager and also the HR Director both of whom will provide support and guidance to ensure that the Mull Aquarium meets the quality of service standards set by the Directors. In-house training will be provided, giving you an opportunity to learn about the marine environment, customer care and retail experience. When opportunities arise external training will be given.

Person specification
Enthusiastic people person. Numeracy skills essential. Interest in marine environment beneficial

Additional information
Hours worked will be according to shift schedules, agreed in advance the Mull Aquarium Manager. This will potentially include working weekends.
