Worldwide Zoo Consultants is a global leader in the creation, development and management of a wide variety of specialized animal facilities and projects: From Zoological Parks, Public Aquariums and Animal Sanctuaries, to living museums and immersive animal-based education centers.

Worldwide Zoo Consultants is expanding and looking to recruit a talented Carnivore Keeper for an exciting conservation initiative in the Middle East. You will be responsible for the day-to-day husbandry operations at the Endagered Species Breeding Facility. Primary responsibilities include the care and wellbeing of the resident endangered Arabian Leopards, the maintenance of all the habitats, and to have a positive, hardworking approach within the Carnivore Department.


Duties
• Undertake daily operations within the Carnivore Department to ensure the highest level of safety, courtesy, education, efficiency and operational readiness at all times.
• Maintain positive representation to professional agencies, institutions and various committees.
• Compliance with health and safety standards in accordance with local municipality rules and regulations.
• Provide excellent animal care and ensure habitats meet compliance of facility specific policies and procedures.
• Ensure the correct diet and appropriate quantities are fed to the animals.
• Perform daily animal husbandry tasks, health checks, animal behaviour observation and training.
• Maintain strict health & safety compliance.
• Ensure all animals are visually checked and numbers recorded daily.
• Maintain BOH areas carefully, ensuring they are clean, rubbish cleared, and equipment stored in the correct place.
• Once locked away, ensure exhibits are clear of any rubbish and fencing is checked.
• Follow the prescribed lock up procedure (for carnivores – buddy system).
• Ensure animals have fresh water at all times.
• Ensure that animals have access to shelter at all times.
• Perform duties in order to reduce loss/waste, control costs and accurately communicate expenses.
• Assist in the maintenance and implementation of new habitats and educational opportunities.
• Maintain up-to-date records on animal health, system maintenance, system checks and stock reports.
• Monitor and identify animal health concerns.
• Communicate to the Conservation Manager and Veterinary staff any animal health concerns to develop and implement a care or treatment plan.
• Compliance of all policy and procedure documents.
• Assist in emergency situations to minimize damage, loss or injury to team members, animals or company property.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements
• 3 years + animal husbandry, zoo experience required.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong listening, presentation and decision-making skills.

• Good work record.
• Good timekeeping.
