Birdworld is currently in an exciting stage of development and is delighted to be offering a unique career opportunity for a Bird Keeper to join our expanding animal team.

 

Working under the direction of the Aviculture Team Lead, and alongside our animal team you will focus your time on the day-to-day husbandry of our 180 species bird collection housed in 130 aviaries. You will have keen observation skills, great time management, basic maintenance skills, and be able to prioritise tasks to ensure exemplary care of the collection. We expect our keepers to offer exceptional and engaging experiences to our visitors, this might be hosting keeper for a day or feeding experiences, or sometimes assisting the education team with public presentations and outdoor flying displays in peak operational months.

 

You will hold an animal related qualification and have at least 2 years’ experience working with birds in a recognised zoo, enjoy working outside in all weathers, be physically fit and demonstrate a passion for aviculture.

 

This vacancy is a full time permanent position, working 38 hours a week, with weekend and public holidays being part of your working rota.
