Location: Chessington World of Adventures, Surrey KT9 2NE
Hours: Full time, averaging 40 hours per week. Will include weekends and bank holidays as required.

About the Role

In this role, you will be taking an active role in the day to day running of our awesome collection. Working alongside a variety of species including Asiatic Lions, Amur Tigers, Western Lowland Gorillas, various smaller carnivores, Spider Monkeys, Squirrel Monkeys, Callitrichids plus many more.

The zoo is currently experiencing a period of growth with exciting developments in the pipeline. You will be helping us to create the most stimulating environment possible – not just for our guests, but for the animals too - and since we’re big on conservation, education and research, you’ll have a big part to play in that too, by playing a key role in supporting the Chessington conservation fund.

You will also be keen to support other areas within our Zoo, which will in turn benefit your own personal development. You will ensure the Health & Safety of yourself, other staff and guests at all times as well as develop a personal training programme in conjunction with your Head of Section.

About You 

We are looking for the following skills and experience;

  • Ideally you will have completed an animal based qualification, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience of working in a Zoo environment or equivalent. Primate and/or Carnivore experience is desirable.
  • You will be a confident communicator and more importantly an alert listener.
  • You will have passion and excitement for your chosen field, with a keen drive to develop your career as an Animal Keeper.
  • Above all else you will be a team player and have a positive can – do attitude.

This role is permanent, full time, averaging 40 hours per week and will include weekends and bank holidays as required.
