Peak Wildlife Park is looking for highly motivated applicants who are willing to learn on the job and have either been awarded or are working towards a professional zoological qualification. Peak Wildlife Park is currently developing and is looking for the right candidates to aid the zoo’s growth.

The successful applicant will be part of a small team, working with a range of exotic species whilst helping to deliver the highest levels of animal husbandry. The role of Animal Keeper is a varied one, and the successful candidate will get the chance to work with several species, from hoof-stock to small mammals and birds. Your roles and responsibilities will include but are not limited to, all elements of animal husbandry, enclosure maintenance, animal training, and delivering talks and VIP experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

• Working with a diverse range of animals, covering all areas of animal husbandry

• Engaging with members of the public, carrying out one-to-one animal experiences

• Record Keeping

• Routine maintenance & cleaning of animal enclosures

• Preparing diets & carrying out feeding procedures

• Working as part of a close-knit team

 

Key Skills:

• At least one year’s paid experience within a zoological environment (Essential)

• Excellent customer service skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• An ability to work to your initiative

• Working towards/or have the DMZAA or equivalent qualification (Desirable)

• A full UK driving license (Essential)

Full training will be given to the successful candidate. The position is available for an immediate start carrying through until the end of the Summer season, with successful applicants required to perform a trial day as part of the interview process. 

 

This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week - however part time hours can be offered if these better suit the correct candidate.

Pay will be dependent on experience and will include other company benefits.
