ELEPHANT KEEPER
Howletts Wild Animal
Park, situated near Canterbury in Kent, is home to the largest breeding herd of
African elephants in the UK.
We are currently
recruiting for the role of Elephant Keeper. The ideal candidate will have experience
gained in a mainstream zoological collection, an awareness of current conservation issues,
a genuine passion for animal welfare and an open minded approach to elephant
management.
This is a physically
demanding position and candidates must be able to work under time constraints.
Occasional security shift duties are also required as part of this role for those living on
site.
A full manual
driving licence is essential and experience of driving tractors, a Zoo Animal Management
related qualification and basic maintenance skills would all be advantageous.
Working five days
out of seven, including weekends and bank holidays the successful candidate will have
a genuinely flexible approach to working hours. Single person
accommodation may be available.
