CURATOR OF BIRDS - CHESTER ZOO

The North of England Zoological Society is one of the leading zoological collections in Europe with an international reputation for achieving its mission in conservation, research and education.


We are currently recruiting for a suitably experienced and qualified Curator of Birds to join our management team at Chester Zoo. This position will report to the Head of Zoo Programmes and will be responsible for the overall organisation and management of our bird collection and staff.


In line with the Society’s strategic objectives, the role will involve implementation and progression of the animal collection plan; exhibit design and development; the efficient management of resources; staff leadership and development and assisting in the expansion of the zoo’s conservation and research activities in the UK and abroad


There will be an emphasis on teamwork and a ‘hands-on’ operational approach.


The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in an appropriate animal/conservation discipline, have a proven track record in bird husbandry and breeding, and have a minimum of five years zoo based experience in a managerial or support role.
