We have an opportunity for a team player with excellent communication and relationship management skills to be part of our Life Sciences team responsible for the integrated operational and animal management functions and activities for the section which includes fascinating animals such as tuatara, kiwis and keas.

As we move forward under a new management structure, we are looking for someone to be a positive role model to others through demonstrated behaviours. In this role you will be responsible for the development of staff through identification of individual and team training needs, development and implementation of appropriate development activities, effective communication, motivation and coaching to ensure maximum potential.

The position is full time (40 hours per week on a 5 day a week roster including Saturdays and Sundays).

So, if you can demonstrate:

. a comprehensive knowledge of conservation issues and the role of the modern Zoo

. an ability to listen, learn, observe and interpret animal behaviour

. excellent communication skills both oral and written

. skills in negotiation, influencing, building and maintaining effective working relationships

. experience working within a team environment

and have background in aviculture and reptile management…then this could be the opportunity you’ve been looking for!
