We have an opportunity for a team player with excellent communication and relationship management skills to be part of our Life Sciences Team responsible for daily husbandry and welfare of our animal collection.

As we move forward under a new management structure, we are exploring an exciting area in animal husbandry and presentation. We have an opportunity for the right person to join our Keeping team.
In this role, you will be required to carry out duties under the supervision of a Team Leader, ensuring the highest level of animal husbandry and welfare for all animals under your care whist participating in encounters and keeper talks.

The position is full time (40 hours per week on a 5 day a week roster including Saturdays and Sundays).

So, if you can demonstrate:

. a comprehensive knowledge of conservation issues and the role of the modern Zoo

. an ability and eagerness to listen, learn, observe and interpret animal behaviour

. excellent communication skills both oral and written

. skills in negotiation, influencing, building and maintaining effective working relationships

. experience working within a team environment

. an ability to be flexible and maintain calm demeanour when working with potentially difficult, dangerous, and unpredictable animals or birds

and have a background or qualification in animal husbandry …then this could be the opportunity you’ve been looking for!
