Reptile Supervisor
The Reptile
Supervisor performs all job assignments with a positive attitude that reflects
Al Ain Zoo’s mission and vision of connecting people to wildlife and
conservation. The position is responsible for the daily supervision of the safe
care and handling of an assigned reptile collection and constantly demonstrates
leadership qualities and abilities to engage positive relationship with his
team and zoo customers. This position requires competencies and enough
knowledge to implement high standers of animal husbandry techniques and can
ensure effective implementation of the health and safety policies. This
position also requires knowledge and ability to develop /help to develop modern
animal facilities. He /She must have reasonably good knowledge in animal
species.
Key duties include
but not limited to:
• Supervises
assigned staff
• Assures
feeding schedules and dietary requirements are met
• Oversees
and coordinates reproduction, hatching, and neonate care programs
• Participates
in establishing and updating standard operating procedures
• Ensures
accurate and complete records of animal activities are maintained
• Participates
in planning for the developing and modifying of exhibits
• Oversees/coordinates
animal introductions, moves, restraints, and shipments.
• Accompanies
veterinary staff on medical rounds and assures procedures are followed.
• Regularly
inspects and observes assigned collection for overall health and welfare.
• Prepare
annual work plans for the assigned area.
