Full Time Permanent (38.75 hrs per week inc. some weekends and bank holidays)

An exciting opportunity to work in a unique location- Coastal Zoo and Aquarium – Living Coasts is looking for an experienced aquarist to work within the Animal Department.

Living Coasts is home to seals, otters, penguins, a wide number of sea birds and wading species the aquarium includes local coastal species, rays, archer fish, four eyed fish, octopus and more.

Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years’ experience working at a zoo / aquarium. With a passion and enthusiasm for fish keeping and aquarium systems, also a  working knowledge of sea water systems. We are looking for a proactive person with excellent knowledge of animal welfare and animal handling alongside good observation skills and accurate record keeping. You will be a person who can work under their own initiative with excellent attention to detail and a self-disciplined team player with a positive attitude to join the team. The job will also involve cover on other animal sections when required.
Desirable would be an interest in diving or a dive qualification, DMZAA, a degree or qualification in a related subject.

Role and Responsibilities
•    Attend to all husbandry requirements and maintenance of life support systems.
•    To work to protocols and procedures
•    To maintain excellent water quality  and enclosure cleanliness
•    To keep accurate records for exhibit specimens and systems
•    To participate in regular presentations to visitors including experiences
•    Provide a high level of customer service
