Drusillas are seeking a confident and motivated, full time Deputy Head Keeper with a minimum of five years’ experience working for a zoo or in a similar animal environment. 

Candidates will be expected to:

  • Take full responsibility for the whole animal collection and zoo keeping team in the absence of the Head Keeper and Zoo Animal Manager.
  • Have an outgoing personality and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and the general public, including undertaking animal encounters.
  • Assist with daily management of veterinary care and administration.
  • Train zoo keepers to a high standard in animal husbandry and welfare.

Applicants must have a full driving licence and a car.  It is advantageous for the applicants to have completed the Diploma in the Management of Zoo and Aquarium Animals or similar.  Drusillas has earned a reputation as being one of the best small zoos in Europe with a wide range of animals from Red pandas and Two Toed Sloths to Binturongs and boasts a diverse collection of Primates.
