We are
seeking an experienced falconer to join the Raptorworld team at the Scottish
Deer Centre. The position is full time, 5 days from 7, including weekends so
flexibility is required.
Applicants must have experience of training and flying a variety of raptors and
owls. The role will include conducting public flying demonstrations and public
talks at the Centre, as well as at outside locations, so a friendly and
confident attitude is essential.
Tasks will involve maintaining the highest levels of husbandry and welfare of
the birds, including:
· Daily cleaning
· Daily health checks
· Making furniture for the birds (anklets, jesses, leashes etc.)
· Food preparation
· Flying the birds each day
Essential
Skills:
· Manning, training and flying raptors and owls
· Flying falcons to a lure
· Coping and imping
· Species knowledge including conservation status
· Keeping accurate records
· Self motivated
· Good practical skills
· Confidence in dealing with groups and individuals
