Curator of Living Collections
Twycross Zoo is at a
very exciting stage of development with the first phase of a 20 year masterplan
already underway. The plan will see the
zoo developing new habitats for a refreshed animal collection starting with
giraffe savannah and gibbon forest in 2015 and plans for ape developments also going ahead. We are looking for dynamic, experienced
individuals to drive the zoo forward during this redevelopment.
Following internal
promotion, a position has become available for a Curator of Living Collections
to lead and advance the Animal Department as part of the development of the
Life Sciences Directorate.
The successful
candidate will be an experienced animal manager with the vision and energy to
be part of the development of a world class animal department in conjunction
with the senior Life Sciences team.
Applicants must have
experience of managing a large team, with proven success in setting goals and
improving performance. Budget management
experience is also an asset. We have a
diverse animal collection with a bias towards primates, so experience with a
broad range of animal species would be advantageous. A scientific approach to animal management
and development of the zoo, combined with professionalism and strong
communication skills is essential.
The role is full
time, including weekend duties on a rota system. Salary is paid monthly and we
provide 31 days holiday.
