Lympne Wild Animal Parks, in conjunction with the Aspinall Foundation, are a
charity based organisation committed to protecting rare and endangered animals
from extinction through captive breeding and reintroduction programs.
We are currently
seeking two self‐motivated, enthusiastic and confident individuals to help
undertake our educational commitments. This full‐time 6 month seasonal position
is 40 hours a week (8am – 5pm) including all weekends and public holidays from
March to September 2017. One post will be based at Port Lympne Reserve and one
at Howletts Wild Animal Park.
The seasonal
education officer will present scheduled educational talks to our visitors, as
well as writing and presenting educational talks to school and bespoke groups.
You will provide guided tours with small groups, help to run our Junior Ranger
and Keeper Academy sessions, and to create relevant education activities linked
to our themed events and attend trade fairs. You will be working alongside our
permanent Education Officers and helping to supervise a small team of
volunteers.
A good knowledge of
exotic wildlife and global animal conservation issues is a prerequisite. An
ability to communicate this knowledge to both the general public and more
informed audiences is essential. The ideal candidate will have previous
experience of teaching or working in an educator’s role, as experience in
presenting talks to the public is required. An interest in palaeontology is
desirable for assistance in the Dinosaur Forest at Port Lympne.
We are looking for a
proactive, organised self‐motivated person with good proven people skills who
is a confident and accomplished public speaker. Please specify which Animal
