Administration Assistant
Location: This
position will be based at Ventura Wildlife's Zoological Gardens in Great
Amwell, Hertfordshire.
Closing Date: Until
sufficient applicants have been received.
Contract: Part
time/Flexible (additional hours may be required during the busy season)
Overview:
We are looking for a
responsible Administrative Assistant to perform a variety of administrative and
office activities. They will ensure the efficient day-to-day operation of the
office, and support the work of management and other staff. The individual will
need to be efficient and comfortable being a member of a team. They will be resourceful and organized.
Assuring a steady completion of workload in a timely manner is key to success
in this position.
Main Duties:
- General
sale of admission tickets,
- Day
to day operation of Zoo Welcome Centre, including the reconciliation of, and
accounting for, all monies received by the Zoo’s day-to-day trading activities,
- Dealing
with day to day email and phone enquiries for all areas of Ventura Wildlife,
- Dealing
with bookings for animal experiences, group visits, educational visits, zoo
memberships, animal encounters, etc...
- Monitoring
social media channels for Ventura Wildlife,
- Assistance
in setting up zoo gift shop and operating it on a daily basis,
- Dealing
with customer complaints and feedback,
- Keeping
Zoo Welcome Centre and Explorers Lodge (Education and Events Centre) clean and
tidy on a daily basis.
Applicant
Requirements:
We are looking for a
successful applicant with the following attributes and skills:
- An
active interest in animals, wildlife and conservation,
- An
individual who can work to the highest standards both independently and as part
of a small team,
- Experience
of dealing with customers of all ages and abilities,
- Excellent
customer service skills,
- Confident
when interacting with the public,
- Previous
experience of an administration position is required for this role.
- Knowledge
of Microsoft office especially; Word, Excel and PowerPoint,
- Knowledge
of working within the tourism and leisure industry (preferred but not
essential),
- Experience
of social media including Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms,
Flexibility:
- High
levels of flexibility are required in order to respond to daily problems across
a wide range of areas (staff absence, change or cancellation of events,
equipment failure, visitor queries and other situations),
- The
applicant must have a flexible approach to working as working days may vary,
- They
must be willing to work flexible hours at times to accommodate special events
and activities.
Working Conditions:
- Occasional
early and late working will be required to accommodate deadlines or special
events,
- Weekend
working may be required,
- Working
bank holidays and other holiday time is a regular feature of the job,
