Woburn Safari Park is home to some of the world's most magnificent and endangered animals. The park consists of a Foot Safari, Road Safari, Retail and catering outlets and is enjoyed by families looking for a fun day out. It is also home to The Safari Lodge, a unique events venue

The Department of Animal Welfare & Conservation, based in the Foot Safari area, is currently recruiting for a dedicated, reliable, confident team member. This position is offered on a permanent full time basis.
Working as part of the successful Animal Encounters section you will be responsible for maintaining a safe environment for both yourself and the visitors by adhering to associated risk assessments and protocols without exception.

Working as part of the demonstrations team, you will be expected to deliver high quality educational and entertaining displays of natural behaviours. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with and train an exciting collection of birds, reptiles and mammals, including, but not exclusively; raptors, psittacines and Californian sea lions; and be a part of continually developing and improving the daily displays.

The successful applicant will need to be a highly motivated, flexible, hardworking individual who has a good understanding of animal behaviour and previous experience training and working with a variety of species. The ability to take part in public presentations is essential as well as exceptional animal husbandry skills, high standards of animal care and excellent communication skills.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years previous experience; preferably with the species we hold, however those candidates’ with comparable experience will be considered. The zoo animal management qualification (DMZAA) is essential for this position.

You will bring your experience with behavioural and environmental enrichment programmes and animal encounters, as well as proven ability in carrying out husbandry duties to a high standard.
