Woburn Safari Park is home to some of the most magnificent and dangerous animals.  Today it forms part of the Bedford Estates which includes Woburn Abbey & Gardens, the Sculpture Gallery, Woburn Golf Club and The Woburn Hotel.

We are currently recruiting for a seasonal Animal Keeper to join the Carnivores department, working with wolves, bears, lions and tigers, to start in February through to November 2015.

Working as part of a close team you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of animal care and welfare and ensuring safety standards are adhered to, including the associated risk assessments and protocols, whilst ensuring the best possible visitor experience is delivered.

You should have previous experience of working with Carnivores or a similar environment and a Zoo Animal Management qualification or equivalent is desirable.  As driving is a fundamental requirement of the role a full current driving license is essential.
The successful applicant should demonstrate a passion for animal welfare & conservation, be highly motivated, flexible and committed to Woburn Safari Park’s high standards of husbandry and welfare.

Applicants will need to be flexible as regular weekend working is required to meet the needs of the business.

The Department of Animal Welfare & Conservation is currently recruiting for a reliable, confident team member to join them on a seasonal contract through to November 2014.

Based on the ‘Animal Encounters’ section, you will be working as part of the successful Animal & Welfare team responsible for maintaining a safe environment for both you and the public by adhering to associated risk assessments and protocols without exception.

You will be expected to practice high levels of animal husbandry and assist in the welfare of the animals within the park. As well as ensuring the visitor experience is exceptional by delivering excellent customer service at all times.
The successful applicant should demonstrate a passion for Animal Welfare & Conservation, be highly motivated, flexible and committed to Woburn Safari Park’s high standards of husbandry and welfare. Candidates must have previous “hands on” practical experience of working with a range of animals and an animal related qualification i.e. Diploma in the Management of Zoo and Aquarium Animals.

Preference will be given to applicants that have worked and/or volunteered within the following fields: Zoo’s, Safari Park’s, Farming/Agriculture & Equestrian.

As an essential requirement for this role, successful candidates should possess excellent communication skills, demonstrable experience of dealing with the public, together with the ability to work effectively within a team.

Experienced Animal Keeper - Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park


An experienced keeper preferably with a qualification in animal husbandry, used to caring for a variety of animals.

Required asap for a seasonal position.

There is a possibility of a full time post being available but at present it is only seasonal.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a keeper at one of Europe’s leading safari parks.



We are looking for someone who is methodical and organized in their approach as well as being a confident communicator who can cope well under pressure, multi task and manage a varied workload.



The successful candidate will ideally have some experience of working with exotics and a basic knowledge of animal husbandry. Candidates should be educated to a minimum GCSE standard or equivalent. A clean driving licence is essential.



Duties will include maintaining a hygienic environment, food preparation and ensuring safety and welfare of animals and visitors to the Safari Park. You will work on a full time basis 5 out of 7 days in the week. Hours will include bank holidays and weekends.

Some 180,000 people visit the Zoo each year. The Zoo conserves precious species and raises awareness of the human contribution to both the destruction and sustainability of ecosystems.

Under the management of the Wellington Zoo Trust, the Zoo is heading in new and exciting directions. The Trust’s vision is for the Zoo to be a magical place of learning and fun, bringing animals in their environments and people who visit together.

We are looking for a fixed term Keeper to work 8 hours per week until December 2010. The role will involve providing daily care to our Possums as part of a research programme.

The successful applicant will have:


Experience in captive animal keeping and daily husbandry.

Knowledge of behavioural and environmental enrichment techniques.

The ability to work with limited supervision, solve problems and work well in a team environment.

A National Certificate in Captive Wild Animals. Equivalent qualification or experience

The ability to work on a roster that includes weekends and public holidays.

Good written and verbal communication skills.

Due to a permanent member of staff taking unpaid leave for a year we are looking for a fixed term Keeper to work 40 hours per week from approximately mid October 2009 to mid October 2010. The role will involve providing daily care to our animal Collection, predominantly our Bird and Reptile collection.

  • A National Certificate in Captive Wild Animals or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in captive animal keeping and excellence in daily husbandry.
  • Knowledge and experience in behavioural and environmental enrichment techniques.
  • The ability to work with limited supervision, solve problems and work well in a team environment.
  • A passion for communicating with visitors and sharing our stories.
  • The ability to work on a roster that includes weekends and public holidays.
