Presentations Manager

Full time 40 hours per week,
Salary £24,480 per annum

A vacancy has arisen for a Presentations Manager to join Bristol Zoo’s Presentations Team. This post-holder manages the livestock and staff involved with animal training and demonstrations as well as experiences that involve the Zoo’s guests.
The successful applicant will have considerable experience in animal husbandry, animal training and presentations skills, as well as proven leadership ability.  The Presentations Section develops and delivers the animal demonstrations, daily husbandry and training of the Section’s animals, supporting guest experiences such as Keeper for the Day and advising the other animal sections on husbandry training.  Experience with seal husbandry would be a great advantage.

In addition, s/he will be expected to be a part of the senior animal department team and take up duty animal manager responsibilities, when required.

This is a full time position working on average 40 hours per week as part of the section rota which will include weekends and bank holidays.

Zoos SA is a not-for-profit conservation charity that exists to save species from extinction and connect people with nature.  We provide conservation education, as well as supporting and conducting many conservation, breeding and research programs. As part of our conservation efforts we run Adelaide and Monarto Zoos.

Since 1878, we’ve long been established as a treasured part of the community representing a significant part of South Australia’s heritage and social history.  Since Adelaide Zoo first opened to the public in 1883, generations of South Australians have shared the wonder of our zoos.

The Presentations Manager role has been created to increase visitor engagement and interaction with animals, and foster a greater understanding of conservation issues and initiatives. This role will have the unique opportunity to lead and focus a highly experienced and capable team of presenters and keepers– with the primary purpose of evolving the development and promotion of animal presentations that form such an important part of the visitor experience at Adelaide and Monarto Zoos. A high focus will be given to the training, conditioning and welfare of those animals used in such presentations.
