Experienced Animal Keeper (Full Time)

Paradise Wildlife Park currently has a vacancy for an experienced animal keeper to join our expanding animal park team with the opportunity of working with a wide range of taxa.

Our zookeepers are involved in a full range of husbandry duties including general enclosure cleaning, food provisions, husbandry training, and enrichment programmes across the 6 sections of the zoo (Paddocks, Small Mammals, Birds, Primates, Reptiles & Large Carnivores). The position also has scope for the keeper to go on to focus on certain species as time progresses.  The successful applicant must have previous experience employed within a zoo environment.

The successful applicant will be actively involved in the mixed taxa shows on the zoo, where they will be trained in positive reinforcement techniques for species to demonstrate natural behaviours in public displays. The keeper will also be delivering interactive animal experiences across multiple sections of the zoo.
Paradise Wildlife Park also has a team of volunteers and interns you will be tasked with working alongside and supervising. The applicant must be very personable and able to communicate well with visitors and staff. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic and a good team player.

Job Details:
•        Full time; Permanent position
•        Reports to; Section Leaders & Head keeper
•        Hours; Summer 8am-6pm, Winter 8am – 5pm. Includes weekend and bank holiday work on a flexible rotated basis (1 in 3 weekends off). Flexibility is necessary in this post

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include:
•        Carrying out and enforcing high standards of welfare and animal husbandry routines e.g. food prep, feeding, cleaning, enrichment provision etc. set by Section Leaders on sections allocated to
•        Undertake and record animal observations
•        Deliver high standards of visitor interaction in the form of; keeper talks, animal shows, encounters, experiences, tours and education events
•        Overseeing work experience, volunteers and interns
•        Liaise and assist in general duties and requirements as directed by senior management
•        Other duties to support effective and efficient site maintenance may include: Fire Marshall, First Aider, Company vehicle driver, including tractor trailer, rubbish removal and general cleaning in order to maintain high standards (nb - full training will be a given prior to the post holder being required to undertake new tasks)

Requirements:
•        An animal science related qualification
•        2 years experience in a zoological collection preferable
•        Excellent communication skills
•        Adaptable for a flexible rota
•        Physically fit for the demands of this role
•        Full UK driving licence

Woburn Safari Park is currently looking to recruit an experienced Animal Keeper to join the Elephant team.
Woburn’s Elephant Herd consists of 4 Adult Asian elephants and our elephant calf, which are managed primarily in free contact.

Duties will include daily husbandry and management of the elephants including training, washing and exercising. The successful applicant will be required to work as part of a close knit team and will be able to demonstrate the good communication skills required for regular elephant presentations and special experiences.

The ideal candidate would be required to have the following;
• Experience working with elephants, preferably free contact
• Have attained the ANC in the Management of Zoo Animals qualification or equivalent
• Work well within a team and be able to supervise and develop work experience students
• Flexible approach to work and working hours
• Current full driving license

The position is full time working 5 days out of 7. As this will include regular weekend working, a flexible approach to days / hours will be required.

Dartmoor Zoo is looking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our Animal Department. You will perform general animal husbandry duties to a high standard with a wide range of animals including carnivores, small mammals, hoofstock, primates and birds. You will play an integral role in training, enrichment and maintenance of the animals and their enclosures, as well as supervising our Volunteers and Interns.

Requirements;
A minimum of two years’ experience in a recognised Zoological collection.
An animal related qualification such as DMZAA or similar, or the desire to obtain such qualifications.
The ability to assist in Veterinary procedures.
Applicants must have a full U.K. driving licence and their own vehicle due to location.
Excellent communication skills.
Good IT skills and a sound knowledge of record keeping.
Good team worker with a positive outlook.
Have some experience of enclosure maintenance and power tools.

You will work an average 40 hour week, including weekends, Bank Holidays and other days as required. Some evening work will be necessary for evening events. You will also comply with company policies and procedures regarding Health & Safety and administration.

Colchester Zoo is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual, preferably with a background in animal training, to join its dedicated team of staff. You will be working in a team of four and reporting directly to the Head of Section.

The section is responsible for but not limited to the daily management of exhibits, animal husbandry and the presentation of public displays. Having prior experience working with penguins and sealions and possessing a competent level of understanding of LSS would be advantageous.

The ideal applicant will have a proven work record in a recognised zoological institution and have excellent communication and presentation skills.

It is expected that you will have been awarded the DMZAA or equivalent. However, due consideration will be given to the individual's own level of zoological experience.

This is a full time position working 40 hours per week and applicants are expected to work to a flexible rota as necessary to include weekends and Public holidays.

The applicant must be flexible about their duties within the zoo and should be prepared to be involved in a range of jobs associated with the daily, safe and smooth running of a family owned and managed zoological gardens.

Jobs will include all aspects of animal care; the applicant will be responsible for various animal species and duties will include food preparation, cleaning, maintenance of the enclosures, aviaries and surroundings, hand-rearing where necessary, assisting the vet and administration of basic medicines, wormers etc, record keeping and risk assessments.

Other daily jobs may include cleaning and maintenance of working and visitor facilities to ensure safe and very high standards at all times, involvement with the educational presentations, supervising and training of trainee keepers.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team and alone,
  • Endless enthusiasm and an outgoing personality,
  • A passion for and proven experience of bird training along with first rate presentation skills,

AAP - Rescue Centre for Exotic Mammals

The goal and ideal of AAP is to improve the welfare of abused or neglected primates and small- to medium-sized exotic mammals from all over Europe in a professional manner. This is achieved by providing shelter to animals’ victim of illegal trade, circuses, animal-testing laboratories or private individuals. For most animals we will find suitable homes worldwide in reserves, zoos or in our own permanent shelter in the south of Spain.

AAP is also actively and strategically involved in animal welfare issues by influencing both Dutch and European policy- and decision-makers in this field and working together with professional groups at home and abroad. Furthermore, AAP is an international authoritative knowledge centre.

We employ about 90 paid staff and more than 200 volunteers. AAP is situated in the middle of a green area near Almere. There is nowhere else you would directly see the result of your efforts – each animal taken into our care makes a recovery. For the Chimpanzee Complex of our Rescue and Rehabilitation Cluster, per April 1, we are looking for an enthusiastic
Experienced Caretaker Chimpanzees (m/f)
(32 hours per week)
The Chimpanzee Complex consists of two departments:
1)        A permanent lifetime-care-centre for ex lab chimpanzees that are infected with HIV, SIV and Hepatitis C. These chimpanzees are not sick but potentially infectious and therefore require special care;
2)        A chimpanzee resocialisation unit, temporary intensive care where newly arrived chimpanzees will learn to live in a group again. When the chimpanzees live in stable social groups they will move to other permanent facilities. 

Your role
As an Experienced Caretaker, you are responsible for the daily care for our chimpanzees. In practice your work will largely include cleaning, feeding, observation, behavioural enrichment and assisting in the rehabilitation of the animals. You will be working in a team of experienced caretakers according to fixed procedures and a hands-off protocol. You will be giving directions and guidance to a number of (foreign) volunteers and interns. Your job will also include a number of administrative tasks. The teams is self directing and we therefore expect you to be a good team player as well as being able to work independently. You are hierarchically managed by the team leader of the department.
Requirements
Affinity with the goals of AAP * An accredited Animal Care qualification (education level EQF3 or higher) * minimum of 1 year experience in taking care of chimpanzees * preferably in possession an Article 12 Certificate (Law concerning Animal Experimentation in the Netherlands) * in good physical health * prepared to work during the weekends * capable of working independently as well as in a team * prepared to share knowledge and information * competent in English, both spoken and written * capable of working with relevant computer software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc).

The commencing salary ranges between € 1.468,- and € 1.921,- gross per month (based on 32 hrs) depending
on relevant work experience. Salary is expected to increase on an annual basis.

Applications are invited for an experienced keeper on the Primate and Small Mammal Section of the Park.

The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting in the daily husbandry of the section, and will work in close co-operation with the Section Head and his staff towards the continuous development of the section. They will be expected to undertake all relevant aspects of work in a progressive animal collection. Assisting in the presentation of educational talks is essential.

A minimum of 3 years’ experience with Primate species is essential. Applicants will need to demonstrate good communication skills, be self-motivated, and able to lead and work as part of a team. Possession of a relevant animal management qualification is desired and a full driving licence is essential for this position.

We are looking to add an experienced keeper to our staff that has a good deal of knowledge.   Our staff works with a large variety of animals (hoof stock, swine, birds, reptiles, primates).    This is for a full time keeper position.    Brights Zoo is located in Limestone, TN (in between Greeneville, TN and Johnson City, TN.   We are about an hour and 20 minutes east of Knoxville, TN.
