With its new multi-million-pound elephant facility ‘Project Elephant Basecamp’ opened in 2018 award winning Blackpool Zoo is currently looking to fill a keeper position within its Elephant Section.

The successful candidate will be working in a protected contact keeping system and will be assisting in all aspects of the section’s work, including the delivery of the zoos current Elephant care program to our existing 5 female Asian Elephants. The successful applicant will be required to work as part of a close-knit team and will be able to demonstrate good communication skills both written and oral, you will be expected to engage with visitors including the delivery of keeper talks.
You will need to be hard working, physically fit, enthusiastic and reliable. You should possess the Diploma in The Management of Zoo and Aquarium Animals (DMZAA) or an equivalent and have a minimum of three years’ in a recognised zoological institution and have previous notable experience of working with elephants.  A full manual driving licence is essential and previous experience of driving Tractors/Multipurpose vehicles would be advantageous.

We off a Salary of £18,695.00 per annum as well as a range of other benefits plus the opportunity to further your career within the zoological Industry.
Blackpool Zoo is one of the UK’s most established medium sized zoos, and in recent years the zoo has gone through a rapid modernisation and development process, which is still ongoing.

The Zoo is operated by Parques Reunidos, one of Europe’s largest leisure and attraction operators which specialises in the tourism/leisure sector. Parques Reunidos currently operates over 60 parks around the world and attracts over 21 million visitors annually.

Howletts Wild Animal Park, situated near Canterbury in Kent, is home to the largest breeding herd of African elephants in the UK.

We are currently recruiting for the role of Elephant Keeper. The ideal candidate will have experience gained in a mainstream zoological collection, an awareness of current conservation issues, a genuine passion for animal welfare and an open minded approach to elephant management.

This is a physically demanding position and candidates must be able to work under time constraints. Occasional security shift duties are also required as part of this role for those living on site.

A full manual driving licence is essential and experience of driving tractors, a Zoo Animal Management related qualification and basic maintenance skills would all be advantageous.

Working five days out of seven, including weekends and bank holidays the successful candidate will have a genuinely flexible approach to working hours. Single person accommodation may be available.

Colchester Zoo is seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable individual to join its team of experienced elephant keepers working with 1.3 African elephants.
This is a full time position working 40 hours per week 5 days out of 7 on a rotational basis.

The ideal candidate will have worked for a minimum of two years in a recognised zoological institution and have notable experience of working with elephants in either a free contact or protected contact environment.
It is expected that you will have been awarded the DMZAA or an equivalent qualification. However, due consideration will be given to the individuals own level of zoological experience. You should have a clean UK drivers licence.
Good communication skills, both written and oral are necessary and you will be expected to engage with visitor experiences including the delivery of keeper talks.
The successful applicant will be responsible for but not limited to; cleaning and presentation of exhibits, feeding and general care of the elephants and associated tasks. You will work as part of a team of experienced elephant keepers but also work singularly as required whilst reporting to and taking instructions from the Head of Section.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team of dedicated Elephant Keepers at Howletts Wild Animal Park. The ideal candidate will have experience in a mainstream zoological collection (preferably in a similar position) and an awareness of current conservation issues, a genuine passion for animal welfare and an open minded approach to elephant management.

This is a physically demanding position so candidates must be physically fit and be able to work under time constraints. A full valid manual driving licence is essential to the role with experience of driving tractor an advantage. Holding a recognised Zoo Animal Management qualification and basic maintenance skills would be an advantage.

Ideally you will posses experience of good all round animal husbandry skills and be enthusiastic in contributing to the enrichment of the primate species around the park. Holding a recognised Zoo Animal Management qualification and being comfortable interacting with the public would be an advantage.

Working 5 days a week, including weekends and bank holidays, the successful candidate will have a genuinely flexible approach to working hours. Single person accommodation may be available.

Noah's Ark Zoo Farm is seeking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic, team-motivated elephant keeper for their Elephant Eden facility. We are looking for someone who believes in a sustainable future for good, captive elephant keeping. Elephant Eden operates a Protected Contact management system.

Applicants should have at least one year's hands-on experience of working with elephant preferably including working with a mature bull. Qualifications are preferred but not essential.

Applicants must be happy to work within the Christian ethos of the zoo and be able to work weekends and Bank Holidays.

A vacancy has arisen for an experienced elephant keeper at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo. This is an exciting opportunity to join our innovative and dynamic elephant team in the management of our breeding herd of Asian elephants.  Primarily free contact the Elephants are given daily walks around our 600 acre site as well as providing public education demonstrations.  ZSL has and continues to contribute to research and AI projects.

If you are currently an Elephant Keeper and would like to join ZSL’s world class Elephant team and you match the following requirements:

§        A proven track record of working with Elephants and familiar with all aspects of elephant management.  
§        Have attained the DMZAA in the Management of Zoo Animals or equivalent, or be prepared to undertake the 2 year Animal Management Course.
§        Have good communication skills, enthusiasm and an outgoing and friendly personality in order to communicate with visitors on a one-to-one basis and in front of a large audience.
