£13,850 - £14,499 per annum

The Animal Zone at South Staffordshire College requires an Animal Keeper. The successful candidate will have a wide range of knowledge and experience with livestock ranging from domestic and companion animals to the more unusual animals of varying species. The ideal candidates will have experience of working in a Further Education environment.
A full British driving licence is also required due to the nature of the work involved and experience of
driving various vehicles and farm machinery would be advantageous.
As the Animal Zone is an important teaching resource to South Staffordshire College as well as a licenced Zoo, degree level education would be desirable but not essential from the successful candidate along with any other animal related qualifications.
The successful candidate will have a flexible approach as there will be a requirement to work weekends and holiday periods.

The Animal Management Centre at South Staffordshire College, Rodbaston Campus houses a wide range of domestic and non-domestic species.  We hold a zoo license, are members of ISIS and have several EEP and ESB species.  We are currently extending the facility and the collection and we are seeking a new member of staff to take responsibility for one of the four sections that make up the Animal Centre.

The successful applicant will have a real passion for animals, a relevant qualification preferably to degree level or similar, relevant experience working in an accredited animal collection, be a team player and have the ability to supervise and informally instruct students of all levels and hold a clean UK driving licence.  In addition, there is a requirement to work unsociable hours including weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis. 

The College is working towards setting new standards for the husbandry of animals of all kinds and the successful applicant will be a key player in this.

The College are seeking an Animal Care Lecturer with good practical skills and industry experience to join our existing enthusiastic and energetic team.


The ideal candidate will hold or be working towards a teaching qualification and have a genuine interest in delivering practical and theoretic animal care from foundation level to National Diploma and possibly HE courses.
