Northumberland College has two main campuses at Ashington and Kirkley Hall and centres at Hexham and Berwick.
We offer hundreds of full-time and part-time courses, work with students aged 14-18, mature students, higher education students and employers from numerous industry sectors.

Kirkley Hall Enterprises is a very busy and successful operation, which secures commercial work from across the region. Kirkley Hall Enterprises also manages conferences, wedding events, the Refectory and Bar services at Kirkley Hall. An expansion of the provision is underway with the new Zoological Gardens visitor attraction, a new tea room and gift shop and a desire to increase the number of events being run for the public.
The post of Zoo Presenter provides an excellent opportunity for a proactive highly motivated person to assist in the activities at Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens which is open weekends and school holidays.

Zoo Presenter



Zoo Presenter (part-time, seasonal) 

We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic Presenter, to deliver high-quality, positive and engaging communications on conservation and biodiversity issues for all ages - to enable audiences to understand why biodiversity matters, improve their understanding of the role of environmental parks in conservation and to motivate and empower them to take action to conserve biodiversity. 

The successful candidate will deliver presentations to all visitors, adjusting to specific audience needs;  initiate and run short activities with visitors and educational groups; assist delivery of out of school hours activities e.g. clubs and summer schools; and evaluate and modify presentations and activities. 

Applicants should possess GCSE Science and/or Geography and have worked in a conservation- or education-based environment.  You will also have demonstrable enthusiasm for communicating conservation and biodiversity issues and experience of engaging face-to-face with children and adults of all ages and levels of interest. 

Based at Paignton Zoo, this is a part-time seasonal post for an average 20 hrs per week, spread across 4-5 days (including weekends and Bank Holidays), at £7.83 per hr.   Contracted seasonal hours during 2016 run until Sunday 4th September, although there may be the opportunity of a permanent post beyond this period.  The successful applicant will also be expected to deliver presentations at Living Coasts, if required.
