37.5 Hours per week (5 days from 7 to include part weekend and bank holiday working)

£21.001.50 per annum

 

WWT London Wetland Centre is looking for a motivated Reserve Warden to assist with the management of our renowned 100 acre SSSI wetland nature reserve.  As part of the team you will assist with all aspects of habitat management with the aim of maintaining and increasing species biodiversity, as well as ensuring the reserve is functioning at its best by maintaining visitor access and on site facilities.

 

As our Reserve Warden you will be familiar with social media, a natural people person with proven ability to engage and enthuse our visitors about wildlife and nature. You need to be a positive team player who is comfortable with risk assessments and compliance with safety procedures, supervising volunteers and volunteer work parties’ as well as species monitoring.

 The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) is a conservation charity that protects wetlands for wildlife and people. We conserve, restore and create wetlands. We are pioneers in saving wetland wildlife, both in the UK and around the world. At our 10 UK sites around a million visitors a year engage with wetland nature. We work internationally in key global wetland areas, balancing conservation with sustainable livelihoods and influencing national and international conservation policies.

WWT London Wetland Centre is looking for an enthusiastic Senior Reserve Warden to assist with the management of our renowned 100 acre SSSI wetland nature reserve.  As part of the team you will assist with all aspects of habitat management with the aim of maintaining and increasing species biodiversity, as well as ensuring the reserve is functioning at its best by maintaining visitor access and on site facilities.

 

To join us as our Senior Reserve Warden you’ll need:

-       Experience of working in a reserve management role with extensive experience of using machinery e.g. brushcutters, tractors, chainsaws.

-       To be a natural people person with the proven ability to engage and enthuse the public, in person and through social media platforms, about nature and wildlife.

-       To be a positive team player who is comfortable with risk assessments and compliance with safety procedures, supervising volunteers and volunteer work parties’ as well as species monitoring.

WWT London Wetland Centre is looking for a motivated individual to join our Living Collections Team as our Living Collection Assistant Manager. 

This role will assist the Living Collections Manager with the management of the department at the London Wetland Centre, supporting WWT’s Visitor Engagement Strategy and the overall WWT London objectives. You will ensure the highest standards of animal husbandry and welfare, managing and delivering the highest presentation standards in the Living Collection exhibits, and all other exhibits and grounds areas.

The ideal candidate will support the Living Collections Manager in all aviculture and animal management, exhibits, interpretation and grounds maintenance, including leading on horticultural development and management. They will also need to work closely with other departments to assist with operational improvements across the site and achieve an amazing, surprising, inspiring and engaging visitor experience.

This is an exciting time to join London Wetland Centre, as we head towards a new ten year masterplan; there will be the opportunity to generate new ideas and work on new projects.

To join our team you’ll need:

-       Previous experience of working with animal collections in a large scale visitor attraction

-       Knowledge of UK legislation relating to zoo practice and animal welfare

-       Proven experience in horticultural management and practices

-       A recognised qualification in horticulture.

-       A visitor focused approach with experience of leading and motivating a team
