Experienced Zoo keeper
Seasonal

Here at Wild Zoological Park we are looking for a dedicated zoo keeper to join our team. It is a seasonal position with an immediate start and concluding post October half term. The position works for 5 days of 7 per week with pay rates calculated as per UK standards for your age based on a 35 hour week. The position also includes working weekends and bank holidays and does not include annual leave during the school holidays. Please note this is not a trainee position, please only apply as an experienced keeper.

Successful candidates will have:
• A full UK driving licence and the right to live and work in the UK
• Experience working in other zoological facilities
• Up to date knowledge of husbandry and welfare
• Experience handling and managing animals for a variety of procedures.
• DIY skills and experience using hand tools is preferred
• Good communication skills
• Experience talking to visitors and ability to talk publicly

Key responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
• Day to day management of collection
• Feed preparation and enrichment
• Assisting with veterinary procedures
• Assisting with design and build/maintenance of exhibits and enclosures
• Assisting with handling workshops, shows, keeper talks and V.I.P experiences and general visitor interaction
• Assisting with training of animals
• Keeping up to date health and husbandry records

Wildlife Presenter/Zoo Host


Wildlife Presenter/Zoo Host
Seasonal

Here at Wild Zoological Park we are looking for a dedicated wildlife presenter/zoo host to join our team. It is a seasonal position with an immediate start and concluding post October half term. The position works for 5 days of 7 per week with pay rates calculated as per UK standards for your age based on a 35 hour week. Please note this is not a trainee position, please only apply as an experienced presenter.

Successful candidates will have:
• A full UK driving licence and the right to live and work in the UK
• Essential knowledge and understanding of operant conditioning and positive reinforcement animal training techniques
• Experienced public speaking skills are essential, comfort talking to large audiences and preferably natural comic ability and timing due to our typical presentations and show scripts
• Experience working and training free flying birds is preferred but not essential.

Key responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
• Presenting our main shows and free flight bird shows
• Presenting our daily encounters and keeper talks
• Leading and assisting with daily ‘up close’ wildlife encounters
• Providing V.I.P experiences and guided tours
• Assisting keeping team with day to day management of collection
• Assisting with training of display team animals and free flying of birds
• Record keeping and general care of animals on our display team section
