Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week
Salary:  £24,098 to £33,229 per annum

Following a £4 million upgrade of our Animal Centre, we boast an exceptional range of world-class facilities, as well as a team of teaching staff who are genuinely passionate about supporting every student to reach their full potential.

We are currently looking to appoint Lecturer / Course Managers to teach a range Animal Management subjects to Further Education learners.

We are looking for exceptional, well organised individuals to course manage and teach on a wide range of courses within the animal management area.  You will also implement quality assurance processes and develop new curriculum content that keeps us at the forefront of this evolving arena.

The ideal candidate should hold a formal qualification, in a related subject.  Good team working and communication skills are key attributes within this dynamic team.  A teaching qualification is not essential, although desirable, as training will be offered in post.

Please note this role constitutes ‘regulated activity’ as defined by the Protection of Freedom Act 2012. The successful candidate will therefore be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check with barred list information prior to starting employment. This will be paid for by the College.

Education Officer and Lecturer



Education Officer and Lecturer
Salary £13,733 per annum
Part-time, 22.5 hours per week
Temporary position, covering maternity leave

Our Learning Department requires a part-time Education Officer and Lecturer.
You will be required to teach sessions within the Zoo’s purpose-built Conservation Education Centre, on a range of topics, to booked groups of varying age and ability; also to assist with many other tasks within the Department, including seasonal activities.  You will also be required to deliver lectures to students enrolled on a foundation degree course in partnership with SGS (Stroud and South Gloucestershire College) and UWE (University of the West of England).
The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills, wildlife and conservation knowledge with the enthusiasm to share this with others.  You must be flexible, able to work under pressure and happy to work independently and as part of a team.  Basic ICT skills are essential.

LECTURERS – ANIMAL MANAGEMENT (2 full time posts)
to join our
COUNTRYSIDE, ENVIRONMENT and HERITAGE team

Salary range: £21,654 - £26,563
(subject to annual review in August)


These posts offer tremendous opportunities for individuals with energy and ideas to help us develop a growing curriculum area. We are looking for people with experience working with small animals, wildlife, exotic collections or vet nursing, and who want to work with students in the14 -19 age group.

Enthusiasm, imagination and drive are vital and an interest in conservation or land-based issues is an advantage. We welcome applications from experienced lecturers as well as those who would like to move into this area of work. Teacher training is available if needed.

These posts will form part of a developing team and have the support of our Heritage Academy (employers and partners) in pioneering new provision.
