About Us
WWT (the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust) is the nation’s leading wetland conservation charity. We are pioneers in protecting wetlands for wildlife and people, both in the UK and around the world.

Almost all life depends on wetlands for water, food, or habitat. Yet a third of all wetlands have been destroyed. We are leaders in saving threatened wetland wildlife, a centre for excellence in conservation science and experts in wetland management and creation.

We are now looking for a Living Collections Manager to support the amazing array of birds, animals and amphibians that have made Llanelli Wetland Centre their home. Our Living Collection gives visitors the chance to get close to wetland species including our colourful flamingos and the world’s rarest goose.

The Benefits

- Contributory pension scheme (conditions apply)
- Life assurance
- 25 days’ annual leave plus Bank Holidays, increasing to 30 days after five years’ service
- Free car parking and secure bike storage areas
- Cycle to Work scheme
- Free entry to all our centres
This incredible role is the perfect opportunity for a zoo management professional from a large-scale visitor attraction with expertise in birds, mammals and amphibians to advance their career and support some of the UK’s most exceptional natural habitats.

People are one of our most important assets and we understand that only through your efforts (and those of around 400 colleagues and 1,000 volunteers) can we continue to improve, conserve and support the UK’s wildlife.

The Role
As the Living Collections Manager, you will oversee the living collection area and the Collection Team at Llanelli Wetland Centre in Carmarthenshire. Specifically, your role will involve:

- Delivering an outstanding living collections area
- Supporting our visitor engagement strategy and Llanelli Wetland Centre objectives
- Ensuring we are compliant with zoo licensing regulations, DEFRA’s Standard of Modern Zoo Practice and our own animal health practices

- An animal management qualification
- A full, valid driving licence

A degree level qualification (or equivalent), ideally in zoology, would be beneficial to your application. An IOSH health & safety qualification or equivalent would also be advantageous, as would a certificate in the use of pesticides. A firearms certificate is also desirable.
