Displays Supervisor

Displays Supervisor

SEA LIFE Great Yarmouth

We are SEA LIFE Great Yarmouth and we are part of the magical Merlin Entertainments!

Right now we’re on the lookout for a Displays Supervisor  in Norfolk’s premier attraction to ensure we deliver amazing, immersive, safe experiences for our guests each and every day. At SEA LIFE Great Yarmouth, a positive team spirit, entrepreneurial flare and hard work go hand in hand to make the Merlin magic happen!

About the role

In this role you will take responsibility for ensuring the continual development and innovation within the displays areas. Working with the Curator you will lead and motivate the team of Aquarists to undertake the vital day to day tasks involved in caring for over a thousand amazing creatures, as well as managing and supporting the team to achieve their own potential.

You’ll be responsible for the maintenance plans of the life support systems along with the cleanliness and presentation of our displays, always striving for world class! You will ensure suitable diets and feed plans are in place for our creatures, as well as continuing to develop our excellent animal welfare across the collection.

In addition to this, you’ll be given the opportunity to support in new exciting exhibit developments with a proactive focus on the correct care and attention to the quarantine and transportation process and implementation of policies and procedures that maximise the management of animal husbandry and innovation throughout the attraction.

This is a full time permanent role, working 5 days from 7 and as weekends and holiday periods are our busiest time this will include doing your fair share of weekends and bank holidays on a roster basis.

About you

You’ll be a dynamic, confident and a self-motivated individual; who will be an integral part of the team aiming for a centre of excellence in marine management, conservation and education.

It goes without saying that you will have a robust knowledge of aquatic animal husbandry; and have the ability to communicate to all employees and customers, as well as delivering a highly immersive experience to all our visitors.

Using your experience gained through working in a similar environment, you will have the ability to engage the team to make innovative operational changes which evolve and continually improve our working practices. You’ll have a good understanding of zoo licensing process and requirements having been through a zoo licence in a previous role, some project management experience would be an advantage and ideally you’ll be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline.

About the benefits

Alongside an annual salary circa £21,500, you’ll also enjoy holiday entitlement that increases with service length (starting with 28 days, inclusive of bank holidays, and rising to 33 days). You can also look forward to a great benefits package including a Group Personal Pension Plan, Merlin Magic Pass (giving free admission to all of Merlin’s attractions) an Employee Assistance Programme, Life Assurance, 25% discount in our retail shops and restaurants, 40% discount online off of LEGO, and much more!

Perhaps the biggest benefits of joining us however, are the amazing opportunities to advance your career. Merlin is a large, global, expanding business, with no end of curatorial roles, so for an ambitious and talented individual looking to go much further with their career, we can provide the opportunities and the support to help you realise your potential.
