trainers, veterinarians, design specialists, project managers and operational

zoOceanarium Group
is continuing to expand their team and looking to recruit a talented Program
Director for an exciting zoo project in Ethiopia. You will be responsible for
developing an education programme for the zoo, focusing on the national
curriculum and conservation and leading the guest relations team, to develop
zoo guides that educate and create awareness to the zoo’s visitors while still
having ensuring an entertaining zoological experience. Your responsibilities
will include the development of materials for the zoo and train guides on how
to effectively deliver an education message, conservation awareness and guide
visitors appropriately.

Duties:
• Manage,
support and supervise all staff within their section to ensure highest level of
safety, courtesy, education, efficiency and operational readiness at all times.
• Design,
plan and deliver training programs, predominantly related to school children.
• Develop
a learning program to match the national curriculum.
• Responsible
for the program planning - from development to delivery.
• You
will manage the information and education signs within the zoo, ensuring they
are correct, up to date and inform maintenance if damaged or need cleaning etc.
• Develop
conservation message and information to enhance peoples understanding and the
importance of animal and wildlife conservation along with the Zoo Director.
• Develop
and oversee the ranger guides and the content of information they use to inform
and educate the visitors.
• Develop
a range of educational material including props that can be used within the zoo
to educate the visitors, including touch tables, presentations, posters,
brochures, banners, workbooks, handouts and interactive materials etc.
• Adapt
material for different age groups.
• Train
educators, guides and rangers to effectively educate visitors.
• Develop
animal training programs, animal enrichment programs and continue education of
area staff along with the Head Curator.
• Develop
educative animal interaction programs.
• Work
with the zoo director to market and promote the zoo, locally, nationally and
internationally.
• Coordinate
events, VIP interactions and animal handling experiences along with the Head
Curator.
• Other
duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:
• 5
years + experience with a biology/zoology teaching background with recognized
qualifications.
• Competency
with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

leadership skills.
• Excellent
verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience
managing departmental budgets.
• Creative
problem solver.
